It is unnerving, this sheltering in place, but it is less worrisome than business as usual. Following an extremely busy and emotional weekend, we closed Oakland Yard on Monday night, and the shop will remain shuttered through April 7th. We truly appreciate your support over the last week, and I’m sorry I didn’t have the time to thank each of you personally as you stocked up and assured me that we are, to you at least, an essential business.
We would like to resume selling wine in some capacity, and we may be able to provide curbside pick-up service, in-state shipping, or local deliveries before April, but we are mindful of our potential role in spreading the virus, so will pursue these options only after some time and careful consideration. We believe most of you will respect our healthy fear of unknown risks, and while you may, on occasion, resort to Two Buck Chuck, please do not grow accustomed to it.
We will keep you informed of our progress shortly, and feel free to write us at info@oaklandyardwineshop if you have questions or want to say hello, or you’re looking for pairing recommendations, new music, gardening tips, or relationship advice. I, for one, am still in a mild state of shock at the turn of events, and I’ve been cooking, tending my vegetables and practicing the cello to occupy my time, happy to have my health and a roof under which to shelter. I’ll see some of you out in the neighborhood, waving, walking dogs and strollers. For now, be content to love the ones you’re with, and when it’s time, go on and bring that love back out to the rest of the world.
Cheers,
Max
