A man walks into a bar in Ireland. He orders three pints and carries them to a table and sips from each glass, alternating pints until all of them are empty. He returns a week later and does the same thing, ordering three pints and drinking from each glass until they're all gone. The next time he stops in, the bartender recognizes him and inquires as to why he doesn't just want one pint at a time. 

"It's sort of a family tradition" the man explains. "I have two brothers, and we live all over the globe and don't get to see each other very often. So we do this wherever we are, to feel like we're all together." The bartender smiles and nods in approval, pulling three pints for the man. This continues for several months as the man becomes a regular, the other town folk aware of his sentimental tradition.  

But one night, the man walks in and approaches the bar slowly. "Just two pints, please" the man says softly. A solemn quiet falls over the room. The bartender pulls the two pints and pushes them forward gently with his head bowed. "On the house..." he offers. "I'm so very sorry for your loss." 

Confused, the man pauses, then registers and says, "Oh no no no, we're all fine. I just gave up drinking."


Max and Julia are away for a few more days. They sent greetings from Montlouis a couple days ago.
